Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at riva@touronorion.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Riva does not typically call off a tour for a patchy radar. In the case of extreme weather (if thunder, lightening or heavy winds are present) the captain reserves the right to call off the tour.  She will not make this call until 2 hours before your tour.  Any tour called off due to weather, will receive a raincheck (credit) good to reschedule for current boating season.  Sorry no refunds are offered for rained out tours.

Reservations are non-refundable and non-interchangeable.  Being that it is such a short boating season, we need plenty of notice to know what our available dates are.

Yes — but with great power comes great responsibility. 😄 Please note: no alcohol may be consumed inside Green’s Park, and all coolers must be transported to the boat by your captain in accordance with park rules. Once onboard, feel free to fix yourself a drink, sit back, and relax. Just remember — there are no pit stops or restrooms along the way, so pace yourself accordingly.

Absolutely!  There will be an intermission from viewing the storybooks which is the perfect time for simple snacks and enjoying the views.

Sorry pontoons don't have restrooms unfortunately but thankfully the tour isn't too long (only 90 minutes).  You are welcome to use the restrooms at Green's Park when we return to the dock.

The boat has a large Bimini top that shades approximately half of the seating area. However, with the reflection off the water, there’s really no way to completely escape the sun — so sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are always recommended! On especially windy days, the top may need to remain closed for safety.

No problem! Open-seated tours are offered on select Tuesdays & Thursdays and are perfect for individuals, couples, or small groups. Daytime tours are offered at a discounted rate. Check the booking page for available dates, and be sure to join the mailing list for tour announcements, last-minute openings, and seasonal updates.

Tours are typically offered on weekdays when the lake is quieter and more enjoyable. Weekend tours are not part of the regular schedule due to heavier boat traffic, but special weekend bookings may be available by request. Morning hours are usually best for a calmer lake experience.
Please note: Weekend bookings include a $50 additional fee / $100 on holidays.

Yes! Guests ages 12+ are welcome aboard when accompanied by an adult. Tours are best suited for well-behaved young guests who enjoy history, storytelling, and relaxing on the water. Some of our younger guests end up being the best listeners on the boat! Please let your captain know ahead of time if anyone in your group is under 90 lbs so proper life jackets can be prepared.

Just tell the gate guard you are on Tour with Riva!  Your Captain takes care of park fees.

The tour boat goes thru annual state inspections, and is specifically equipped for commercial charters.  For your safety, tours can only be given from Riva's vessel.

Booking a Private Charter may be available upon request, feel free to send your captain an email with the date, and time you are looking for.

Most tours run throughout June, July, and August when the weather is warm and the days are long. Depending on weather, select dates may also be available in May and September. If you’ve got a group and the weather’s cooperating, don’t hesitate to reach out!
